Azure SQL Database monitoring
Azure SQL database monitoring & performance tuning is performed by selecting 'Azure SQL database' from the connection type dropdown list in the new server connection wizard.
Similar to on-premises monitoring the server is the top level of the server tree with alerts and databases beneath it. There are slightly fewer dashboards compared to on-premises as the server has a reduced feature set.
This azure server level view is a combination of all the child azure databases running for the given login on the server not every database on the server, so the information is 100% relevant to you.
The server sample refresh rate can be changed from the popup list at the bottom of this screen.
Shown on the Azure Server dashboard:
- - User Sessions
- - Storage in MB
- - Cpu Usage
- - Wait time per second
- - Bandwidth Ingress & Egress
- - Index activity
- - Deadlocks
- - Throttling
- - Server Properties
