Oracle datafile offline/recover state alert

Use the Datafile Offline/Recover State alert to detect Oracle datafiles that are not in a healthy available or online state.

Why it matters

A datafile in offline, recover, or otherwise unhealthy state can affect tablespace access, writes, recovery, and application availability. This condition should be investigated as a database/storage incident rather than treated as ordinary capacity pressure.

What to check

  • Open Oracle Containers & Schemas and review the Datafiles tab.
  • Check the affected file path, tablespace, and status.
  • Review Oracle alert log entries around the same time.
  • Confirm storage, ASM, backup, and recovery state with the DBA before restarting workloads.

Tuning the alert

The default threshold is one affected datafile. Keep this enabled for production Oracle environments.
