Oracle ASM offline disks alert

Use the ASM Offline Disks alert to detect Oracle ASM disk groups reporting offline disks. This alert is only meaningful when Mini DBA can read V$ASM_DISKGROUP.

Why it matters

Offline ASM disks reduce redundancy and can threaten allocation, rebalance, or availability depending on disk group type and failgroup layout. Investigate the storage layer before accepting the database as healthy.

What to check

  • Open Oracle Operations and review the ASM Disk Groups tab.
  • Confirm which disk group reports offline disks and whether usable file space is also low.
  • Review ASM/storage logs and host or cloud storage health outside Mini DBA.

Tuning the alert

The default threshold is one offline disk. Keep this enabled for production ASM environments unless another storage monitoring tool is already responsible for paging on the same condition.
